The tea leaf chemical composition is powerful because it is the second most popular beverage in the world. A lot of people are drinking tea as a habit of their life cycle. So, what is the reason for having this much popularity for the tea among the world population? Tea is an aromatic beverage commonly prepared by pouring hot or boiling water over cured leaves of the tea plant (Camellia sinensis). It has a cooling, slightly bitter and astringent flavor that many people enjoy. This all is governed by the chemical compounds include in the tea liquor. A cup of tea contains almost about 2,000 chemical compounds.

There are many types of tea which are having various types of chemical composition in their liquor, such as Green tea, White tea, Oolong tea, Black tea and Pu-erh tea. These types of teas only came from the same leaf of the tea (Camellia sinensis). The level of oxidation in tea production creates different varieties of tea. So, this all is organized by the amazing chemical compounds found in the tea leaf.

Polyphenols

PolyphenolsThe Polyphenols are basically responsible for the color, astringency and partially responsible for the flavor of the tea beverage. Most people know this as Catechins or ECGC. These chemicals are antioxidants and green tea is having a higher percentage of the polyphenols than other tea types.

Caffeine, and Methylxanthines

These are the Alkaloids found in tea leaf. They have derived from amino acids. Caffeine is a popular ingredient in most of the non-alcoholic beverages and energizing beverages.

Proteins and Amino Acids

Proteins and Amino acids contribute significantly to the chemical composition of the tea leaf. L-Theanine is the major Amino acid present in the tea.

Carbohydrates, Pectines and Fiber

The free sugars found in tea leaf are Glucose, Fructose, Sucrose Maltose, Rhamnose, Raffinose, and Stachyose. These chemicals help to synthesis of polyphenols in the tea leaf.

Other than these major chemical compounds, Organic Acids, Vitamin C, Lipids, Chlorophylls, Carotenoids, Minerals, and Essential Oils are found in the chemical composition of the tea leaf. The quality of Ceylon tea is given by those pure chemicals in tea, grown in salubrious highlands of Sri Lanka. Darkley tea only gives you high-quality Pure Ceylon tea with Exceptional Taste.
